Your route notes have details for each day including rest stops and places of interest. Day 4 of your Dordogne Walking Tour: Chateau Commarque to Sarlat 15.6 Km / 9.7 Miles. On Days 2 and 4 dinner is not included which gives you the option to choose from one of the many local eateries. You can buy lunch in the village patisserie before you depart each morning, or buy it en route. MealsĪ delicious breakfast is included each morning and 5 dinners are included on Days 1, 3, 5, 6 & 7. If you are travelling solo the tour is slightly more expensive as some costs are not shared. If you require single rooms within your party we would be happy to accommodate you, a single room supplement payable. This tour is available for solo walkers but we would recommend that you are experienced in walking and navigating alone. As well as well known medieval towns such as Bergerac, on the Dordogne river and with a lovely historic centre, this is a region to discover many small bastide villages and towns (bastides are medieval 'new towns' founded in the 12th-13th centuries) several of which are found in the southern Dordogne (with others further south in Lot-et-Garonne such as Villereal and Monflanquin). Some of our accommodation have swimming pools (although not always guaranteed), so remember to take your swimming costume/suit for a relaxing dip at the end of the day! Solo Walkers & Single Rooms They all offer a warm welcome to walkers, traditional hospitality and delicious local food. The river changes completely in character during its voyage to the sea but retains one very important. We specifically select your accommodation in local, family-run 2* hotels, to ensure that you enjoy every minute of your stay in France. The Dordogne river crosses much of south-west France, a journey of almost 500 kilometres from its source in the mountains of the Massif Central to its final confluence with the Garonne River before entering the Atlantic Ocean near Bordeaux.
